We are a family owned business Berlin Wi. I have been a contractor and built many homes, including the log home on the cover page, where we still reside today. I built the home 23 years ago. I have also been a taxidermist for 20 years, but still have the desire to do some building restoration. With all of the experience I have , I am very picky and pay close attention to detail. As our kids grew up, they appreciated this type of work and when it came time, wanted to be involved in the remodeling and corncob blasting of our home. We decided to start a new business. So we bought all the equipment needed to do this type of work and now our family is on this journey together. And we would love to have the opportunity to help you bring your home back to life.
What we do here at Hunt Log Homes, is specialize in corncob blasting. At this time I am sorry to say I do not build homes anymore . We just focus on the blasting, so your home can be refinished like new.
We have a special corncob blaster that uses a corncob media to blast the logs or siding. This is soft media that removes the old finish and mildew without harming the surface. I will say that this is the best and most environmentally friendly way to do this. No chemicals, no water, and with no water you can start to prep the house for caulking and staining immediately after blasting.
I believe using corncob blasting to remove surface stain and mildew is the best method. Other methods such as pressure washing or sanding have not proved to be successful. For example, pressure washing a wood surface, damages the wood by separating the fibers. Pressure washing can also damage the interior of the home if joints are not properly caulked and sealed. As far as sanding goes, it is not only difficult, but nearly impossible to remove stain from all of the nooks and crannies. I know this from experience, as I have tried all of these methods on my log home that I built 20 plus years ago.
